Futuro Forestal is a pioneering forestry company in Panama, recognized for their novel approach for creating multi-species forest plantations with native rainforest species, re-foresting degraded lands, and emphasizing reverse discrimination and social justice in their operations and labor practices. We've been fortunate to work with Futuro Forestal since the mid-1990's. Huls Dairy is a family-owned dairy that has been operating in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana since 1908. The dairy has become a model for efficiency and innovation in recent years. ClearSky is proud to be partnering with Huls Dairy to generate carbon offsets from their newly-installed anaerobic digester. For those of you who aren't familiar, a digester collects animal waste, breaks it down in anaerobic conditions to generate methane, and burns the methane in a generator to create clean electricity. (We like to call it "poo to power.") PACT is an international NGO, with a mission to build strong communities and raise living standards for people in developing countries. They have field offices throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America. PACT realizes that forest carbon projects will have a great influence on the lives of rural and forest-dwelling communities around the world, with large potential benefits as well as risks. They want to empower these communities to engage effectively with the international carbon market. PACT has contracted ClearSky to help shape their mission and strategy with regard to REDD (forest protection) activities, and field-test their approach on a project in Cambodia. Solomon Islands Community Conservation Partnership (SICCP) The SICCP is an organization founded by the American Musuem of Natural History's Center for Biodiversity and Conservation and the environmental NGO Conservation International. SICCP's primary role is to implement community-based conservation agreements throughout the Solomon Islands, in order to give communities real benefits in exchance for protecting their community lands. ClearSky is working with SICCP and other partners to develop a forest-based carbon offset project in the Solomon Islands, the very first of its kind. Greenhouse Gas Consulting Partners DAI - Development Alternatives, Inc. DAI is an employee-owned international development firm based in Bethesda, MD, and implementing projects throughout the world. DAI works on projects in diverse and interconnected technical areas including climate change, agriculture and natural resources, crisis mitigation and recovery, health, democracy and governance, and economic development. The company is working with ClearSky to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from its annual conference, and we're excited to make this a climate-neutral event! Edith LLC Edith LLC owns and manages Higgins Plaza in downtown Missoula, a 40,000-square foot office buidling with numerous professional suites. Higgins Plaza happens to be where the ClearSky headquarters offices are located, and we have worked with Edith LLC to measure and offset all of the greenhouse gas emissions from the building's electricity and natural gas use. Edith LLC is excited to provide the only climate-neutral office space in Missoula! Farm to Family (F2F) is a new business in Missoula, designed to deliver locally grown and produced food directly to consumers. F2F has established relationships with a wide range of farmers, ranchers, and food producers, and makes it easy for families to "go local" with a home delivery service. ClearSky is working with F2F to measure and offset the greenhouse gas emissions of the F2F delivery truck, so now the local food option is also the most climate-friendly food option in Missoula! ClearSky has teamed up with the Green Event Company on their GreenPass program, a climate-neutral shuttle service for concerts and events. The Green Event Company works with some of the premier shows in the country, including the Mile High Music Festival and Phish at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. ClearSky offsets are powering this service! homeWORD is a Montana-based nonprofit dedicated to making affordable housing available and building safe, strong communities. They use a mix of real estate development, education, energy-efficiency contracting, and policy advocacy. ClearSky has worked with homeWORD on a number of activities, including an energy-saving challenge at the new Equinox housing complex and the 2010 Sustainability Tour in Missoula. homeWORD has also worked with ClearSky to measure and offset their annual GHG emissions, and we're very proud to have them as a carbon-neutral partner! Hopworks is Portland (OR)-based brewery, featuring organic beers, local ingredients, and cutting-edge sustainability practices. In their mission to become the USA's very first climate-neutral brewery, Hopworks has partnered with ClearSky to assess their annual carbon footprint. Mediaplex, a leading advertising technology company, decided to measure and offset a portion of their corporate carbon footprint with ClearSky. We've measured the greenhouse gas emissions from energy use at Mediaplex data centers, which are being offset with credits from Panama Native Species Re-forestation project. This way, Mediaplex can offer climate-neutral ad hosting to all of their clients! Pioneer Productions is a commercial production company based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pioneer serves a diverse array of clients from all over the world, and they have embraced environmentally friendly business practices by becoming a climate-neutral company for 2009. Also, ClearSky and Pioneer have teamed up to offer Climate-Neutral Production Packages as an option for Pioneer's clients! The Resort at Paws Up is one of the premier luxury vacation resorts in the United States. Sustainable Building Systems (SBS) is a Missoula-based business that is focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions for homeowners and businesses. ClearSky worked with SBS to audit their on-going GHG emissions from operations and travel, and SBS is becoming a Climate-Neutral Business with offsets from ClearSky! The Sustainable Business Council - Montana Located in Missoula Montana, the Sustainable Business Council (SBC) supports businesses that would like to pursue more environmentally and socially sustainable practices, while maintaining or enhancing their economic viability. They encourage local shopping in the community and cross-pollination between like-minded businesses. As a member of the SBC, ClearSky is providing our greenhouse gas consulting services at no charge to other SBC members. Our goal is to make all businesses in our home town aware of the impacts of their business operations on the climate, and to encourage them to take positive steps to reduce these impacts. WeddingMuseum.com is a leading online source for wedding website hosting, wedding planning tools, and wedding vendor information. ClearSky has partnered with WeddingMuseum.com to host the ClearSky Wedding Carbon Footprint Calculator, which will allow couples to estimate and reduce the carbon footprint of their wedding events! Also, WeddingMuseum.com has become a climate-neutral business by completing a Greenhouse Gas Assessment and offsetting their carbon footprint with ClearSky.
Advertising and Outreach Partners ACE Rent a Car is an international car rental reservation company, with about 200 locations worldwide. ACE’s Rental Genius program is the most generous customer rewards program in the industry, allowing people to earn discounts toward rental car purchases, free rental days, and product prizes. ClearSky has partnered with ACE to offer ClearSky Carbon Offsets as rewards in the Rental Genius program! ClearSky is also completing Greenhouse Gas Assessments for ACE corporate offices in the USA. The Carbon Catalog is an online resource for anyone interested to purchase carbon offsets or learn more about this area. ClearSky is one of the featured providers on Carbon Catalog's list of offset providers, which grades different companies based on the quality of offsets they provide and the transparency of their process. ClearSky was pleased to score very highly on Carbon Catalog's scale - give it a look and see how we compare! The Carbon Offset Review is a new online directory of Carbon Offset Providers. Visitors can quickly see a comparison of project types, certiifcation and verification listings, and prices for carbon offsets. This site also posts informative articles about carbon offsets, as well as relevant news pieces. Located in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, the Daly Mansion is the historic summer home of copper baron Marcus Daly. This 24,000-square-foot, state-owned property is managed in partnership with the University of Montana, and it remains open for tours, weddings, and other special events. EcoBusinessLinks - Green Directory EcobusinessLinks provides one of the largest online directories for green products and services. They have published a Carbon Offset Provider List, as well as an Offsetting Price Survey, to help consumers make an informed choice. ClearSky is proud to be included on this directory. Forest Visions is an organization working to preserve the forest knowledge of communities, using participatory techniques to nurture a dialogue among and between communities. This collaboration inspires community-driven forest management projects. They provide tools and training for forest communities to document forest knowledge and management using photography, video, and participatory methods that catalyze experimental collaborative management. Life & Leisure, the award-winning television series, is pleased to announce that ClearSky Climate Solutions has been selected to appear on an upcoming show. NACET fosters small businesses in fields like renewable energy and energy efficiency, and ClearSky staff are serving as advisors on the potential GHG reduction and carbon offset benefits for new businesses. United Nations Climate-Neutral Network The United Nations Environment Programme has created the UN Climate-Neutral Network as a means to organize the broad range of national governments, local governments, businesses, and NGOs that have made the pledge to be climate-neutral in the years ahead. ClearSky was excited to be invited to join this diverse and growing list, and we hope to inform others by sharing our experiences and skills.
