December 2009, Frenchtown MT: Can a closed wood products mill actually provide opportunity for a local community? ClearSky thinks so. A few days after it was announced that the Smurfit-Stone mill in Frenchtown, MT will be closing, Keegan Eisenstadt was interviewed on KPAX News in Missoula about potential opportunities to use the old mill facility. December 2009, Nairobi Kenya: ClearSky has been invited to join the United Nations Climate-Neutral Network, a program within the United Nations Environment Programme. The UN Climate-Neutral Network is a collection of countries, city governments, private companies, and NGOs that have made the commitment to have zero net impact on the atmosphere. This is accomplished by measuring greenhouse gas emissions, implementing business practices to reduce carbon footprints, and balancing any remaining emissions with certified carbon offsets. ClearSky will soon post our company Carbon Footprint Assessment on the site, along with confirmation of our climate-neutral status!
December 2009, Copenhagen Denmark: ClearSky CEO Keegan Eisenstadt will be attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. Delegates from nations all over the world will be attending this ground-breaking event to discuss international agreements to handle global climate change, along with a whole host of related subjects. ClearSky built and designed a simple tool to allow wedding couples to estimate the carbon footprint of their big day, and we have partnered with WeddingMuseum.com to host the calculator online. December 2009, Buenos Aires Argentina: Pioneer Productions has gone climate neutral with ClearSky! Pioneer is a commercial production company serving clients from around the world. ClearSky has audited their greenhouse gas emissions for 2009, and Pioneer has offset their entire carbon footprint for the past year. Education on climate change and advocacy for strong policy solutions are part of our core mission, so we are pleased to participate in the Climate Action Week Panel Discussion at the University of Montana on October 19th and the campus-wide event on October 23rd. Both events are sponsored by the ASUM Sustainability Center and the University of Montana's Climate Action Now! group.

Peter Greenberg is the Travel Editor for CBS News, and has become America's authority on the travel industry. His radio show features segments about the latest trends and information in travel, and Keegan's interview is sure to make for interesting listening! October 2009, London UK: EcoSecurities, ClimateBiz, and Baker & McKenzie LLP recently released the results of The Carbon Management and Offsetting Trends Survey 2009, a global investigation of corporate actions and attitudes regarding climate mitigation. ClearSky Climate Solutions was excited to be recognized among the top 15 carbon offsetting companies by a world-wide panel of respondents, and among the top 10 carbon offsetting companies by North American respondents! August 2009, Missoula MT: The Missoulian, western Montana's leading newspaper, has published a letter to the editor written by ClearSky Project Developer Stephen Handler. August 2009, Takoma Park MD: The Center for a New American Dream has just published a new report that features ClearSky Climate Solutions. The report, produced by the Responsible Purchasing Network, is entitled "The Responsible Purchasing Guide for Carbon Offsets" and included lots of great information on what to look for when buying offsets. June 2009, Greenough MT: The Uptake Hotels Blog has just posted a brief story featuring ClearSky's partnership with The Resort at Paws Up, one of the premier vacation resorts in the United States. ClearSky is working with Paws Up to complete a full-scale greenhouse gas inventory for the resort and offset the emissions from the resort's operations. Paws Up is now the very first carbon-neutral resort property in the US. Guests will also have the option to make their stay at Paws Up completely carbon-neutral! This effort is a featured component of the "iPreserve" sustainability program at Paws Up.
May 2009, Missoula MT: And the winner is.....ClearSky Climate Solutions! We're proud to announce that ClearSky has been named the 2009 Sustainable Business of the Year by the Montana Sustainable Business Council. It's a very nice honor for our first year of operation, and we thank the SBC for their recognition.
April 2009, Monterey CA: ClearSky CEO Keegan Eisenstadt was invited to present at the first annual Conservation Symposium at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. This symposium was entitled: "Covering the Costs of Conservation: Biodiversity, forest owners, and carbon-neutral partners" and featured a range of speakers, including high-level staff from Conservation International and the Environmental Defense Fund. Keegan presented on the current market for forest carbon projects, as well as on our Panama Re-forestation project. Thanks to MIIS for having us at this great event!
April 2009, Missoula MT: The Missoula Independent, Montana's largest weekly newspaper, decided to take a look at their company-wide carbon footprint and publish the results in their Earth Day issue. ClearSky personnel completed the greenhouse gas inventory, and the finished article can be found here. The Indy also decided to make the April 16th issue climate neutral, with ClearSky certified offsets from our Montana Rangeland project. We're always eager to work with local businesses, and we look forward to helping the Independent develop a climate action plan to shrink their footprint in the years ahead.
April 2009, Missoula MT: ClearSky is pleased to partner with Montana Audubon and Climate Solutions to host an informative event titled "Montana Businesses: a discussion of political and practical solutions to climate change." This event is geared toward members of Montana's Sustainable Business Council (although anyone is welcome to attend!), and it is the 3rd in a series of sustainability-themed SBC events this spring. Please join us on April 23rd at the Missoula Childrens Theater, from 6:30-8:30 PM.
April 2009, San Francisco, CA and New York, NY: ClearSky personnel delivered an in-house webinar for employees of Mediaplex, an internet advertising company that has decided to partner with ClearSky. Mediaplex has offset the greenhouse gas emissions associated with electricity use at 3 data centers in California, in order to offer climate-neutral ad serving to all of their clients. This webinar was designed to explain what actions Mediaplex has taken, how a greenhouse gas assessment takes place, and the benefits associated with high-quality carbon offsets. ClearSky is excited to design a more thorough climate action plan with Mediaplex, and reach out to Mediaplex clients who are interested in assessing their own carbon footprints.
March 2009, Missoula, MT and Washington, DC: The University of Montana's "Climate Action Now" group attended the Power Shift 2009 event in Washington DC, which brought together more than 10,000 college students from across the nation to visit with congressional leaders and press for climate change solutions. 14 students from UM attended this year's event, and they decided to use ClearSky offsets to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions due to their airplane travel. February 2009, Missoula, MT: The University of Montana men's basketball game on February 21st is going to be climate-neutral with ClearSky! "Go Green" is the theme for the Griz basketball game versus Idaho State. Local, Montana-produced concessions will be available through the Farm to College food program, and there will be recycling and composting stations throughout the arena. ClearSky has estimated the carbon footprint of the game to be 71 metric tons of CO2e, and will be providing offsets from our Montana Rangeland Carbon Sequestration Project. January 2009, Bethesda, MD: The DAI Annual Conference is going climate-neutral with ClearSky. Development Alternatives, Inc. is an employee-owned international development consulting firm, based in Bethesda, MD and implementing projects throughout the world. They work on projects in diverse and interconnected technical areas like agriculture and natural resources, crisis mitigation, health, democracy and governance, and several others. DAI is working with ClearSky to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from their annual conference, and we're excited to make this a climate-neutral event!
