Texas Re-forestation Project PoolWe’re exited about the Texas Re-forestation Project, which creates an incentive for landowners to re-plant native tree species on marginal cropland or rangeland. This project consists of a group of 129 individual landowners, contributing 5,420 hectares (13,400 acres) of re-forested lands throughout Texas. Individual re-forestation plots are primarily loblolly pine forests, which will sequester CO2 as they grow. These landowners have each signed contracts to maintain the planted areas as forests for a minimum of 15 years, and have agreed to follow the management rules of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). This project was verified by a CCX-approved auditor and entered the CCX through an aggregator of rangeland emissions reduction projects.
